Rotobrush Vent Sanitizing: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible vent sanitizing equipment on our service trucks throughout Dallas, and a full vent sanitizing treatment on a typical single-family home runs between $225 and $450 depending on the number of vents and the length of duct runs. Most jobs are completed the same day the equipment arrives on site, and every quote is written down before we touch the system. Owners usually discover a problem with their Rotobrush setup one of two ways: the machine stops producing a consistent sanitizing mist mid-job, or the air coming out of the vents doesn’t have that clean, treated smell even though the machine is running. When that happens, the issue is rarely the machine itself. It’s usually a worn component that Dallas humidity and hard use have finally caught up with. Roy Castellanos and our crew see it every month: a Rotobrush that’s been worked hard across North Texas job sites, now sputtering or streaming instead of fogging, and the homeowner left wondering whether to repair or replace.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

Rotobrush has manufactured several series of air duct and vent cleaning systems over the years, but the vent sanitizing components we service most often in Dallas fall into two families: the aiR+ series (including the aiR+ and aiR+ PRO kits) and the older RotoStorm and QuadraClean platform units. The sanitizing components differ between these lines, and that’s where most owners get tripped up. The aiR+ system uses a modular sanitizer attachment that connects to the system’s compressed air feed, while the older RotoStorm line runs a separate inline sanitizer canister with its own pickup tube. The threaded fittings are not interchangeable between the two families. We pull the model number off the machine’s data plate, always located on the rear housing near the power inlet, before ordering anything.

One compatibility gotcha that saves Dallas owners a lot of frustration: Rotobrush switched the sanitizer pickup tube diameter from 3/8 inch to 1/4 inch partway through the aiR+ production run. If the tube slips off the barb or draws air instead of sanitizer, that’s why. On the OEM versus aftermarket question, we’re straightforward about it. OEM Rotobrush sanitizer cartridges fit perfectly and carry the factory spec, but quality aftermarket equivalents using the same thread pitch and the same sanitizing chemistry work just as well for less money. We stock both on the truck and we’ll show you the difference before you decide. It’s your money, and there’s no reason to pay a premium for a brand label when the chemistry and the fit are identical. Hollis Air Duct Dallas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush, so we’re free to give you the honest comparison instead of an upsell.

Signs Your Rotobrush Vent Sanitizing Is Failing

  • Weak or uneven mist output. The sanitizer nozzle is partially clogged with mineral deposits from Dallas’s hard water, or the pickup tube has collapsed from age. You’ll see streamers of liquid instead of a fine fog.
  • Sanitizer leaking around the canister seal. The O-ring at the top of the canister has hardened and cracked, which happens faster in Dallas heat when equipment gets stored in a hot van or garage. Replace the O-ring before it leaks onto the machine’s electronics.
  • Machine runs but no sanitizer dispenses. The pickup tube has cracked or split below the sanitizer level, so the venturi draws air instead of liquid. This is the most common failure we see on aiR+ units that are more than three years old.
  • Loud sputtering or spitting from the nozzle. Air is mixing into the sanitizer line somewhere upstream, usually at a loose compression fitting. Tightening it can help, but if the ferrule is deformed, tightening just makes it worse.
  • Residue building up on the sanitizer wand and nozzle tip. This can mean the sanitizer is not fully atomizing, so it’s landing wet and heavy instead of as a dry fog. The cause is low system air pressure, often from a clogged internal filter on the machine itself.

Any one of these is fixable. The trick is matching the symptom to the right component before parts start getting swapped at random, which is how small repairs turn into expensive ones.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Dallas homeowners, a vent sanitizing equipment repair or component replacement on a Rotobrush system typically lands between $150 and $400 installed. On the low end, you’re looking at a pickup tube, O-ring, or nozzle replacement, parts and labor both. On the higher end, a full sanitizer canister replacement or internal filter service pushes the number up. We don’t quote per-vent pricing and we don’t bait you with a teaser number that doubles once the van is in your driveway. The price you get on the phone is the price on the invoice.

Here’s what drives the range:

  • Which Rotobrush series you own. aiR+ sanitizer components cost less than the older RotoStorm inline canisters, which are discontinued by Rotobrush and only available through aftermarket channels now.
  • How many components failed. A bad O-ring by itself is cheap. A cracked pickup tube plus a clogged nozzle is two parts plus labor.
  • Where your system lives. Units stored in unconditioned Dallas garages or sheds age faster. Heat and humidity harden seals and crack plastic tubing years earlier than climate-controlled storage.

Every vent sanitizing job we do in Dallas carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the same component fails within a year, we come back out and fix it at no charge, including a free second visit. That’s not a verbal promise. It’s on the invoice.

DIY or Call Us?

The sanitizing side of a Rotobrush system is low-voltage and low-pressure, so there’s no high-tension spring or electrical hazard like you’d find on a garage door or a main panel. That said, the sanitizer itself is a chemical. Rotobrush’s vent sanitizer is designed to be used in a ventilated duct system, not inhaled directly, and not left to pool on surfaces. If you can identify a cracked pickup tube or a visibly hardened O-ring, and you’re comfortable replacing a rubber seal, that’s within reach of a careful owner. The mistake we see is people using the wrong thread pitch on a replacement fitting and then over-tightening it to compensate, which strips the receiving threads on the canister. That turns a $12 O-ring job into a $300 canister replacement. If the fitting doesn’t thread on smoothly by hand, stop. Call us at (361) 309-6223 before you force it. We’ll match the part to your Rotobrush model over the phone, and the estimate is free.
