Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
If you own a Rotobrush system in Dallas and the sealing head, shaft, or rotary brush has failed, we can match the part to your machine and install it for a typical all-in price of $240 to $620, depending on what wore out. We keep Rotobrush-compatible wear parts on hand and run service calls across the Dallas metro, from Plano down through Mesquite and over to Irving. Most owners discover the failure mid-job, when the brush stops spinning true or the sealing collar no longer seats against the duct wall. A wobble at the head, a sudden loss of suction, or a brush that chatters instead of gliding is the usual first sign.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has built several machine lines over the years, and the sealing and brush components are not universal across all of them. The older Rotobrush aiR+ and Rotobrush BRH units take different shaft diameters and collar threads than the newer Rotobrush Viper and Rotobrush 220V/110V Pro systems. Before you order anything, check the model plate on the machine body. It will list the series and usually the shaft size in millimeters. If the plate is worn off, measure the exposed shaft with calipers. A 19mm shaft does not cross over to a 22mm head, and forcing it is how owners strip the collar threads and turn a $40 part into a $400 repair.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Rotobrush-branded parts are well made but priced at a premium, and lead times from the manufacturer can stretch to two weeks depending on stock. Quality aftermarket sealing heads and brushes made to the same shaft spec and thread pitch are available, and in our experience they hold up as well as OEM for standard residential work. We will give you the straight comparison on the phone, including what we have seen fail on both. We also stock sealing and repair components for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier duct systems, since Dallas homes run a mix of equipment and the ductwork doesn’t care what badge is on the blower. Hollis Air Duct Dallas is an independent service provider; we are not affiliated with Rotobrush, and we don’t pretend to be.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- The brush chatters or bounces inside the duct instead of turning smoothly. This usually means the shaft is bent or the brush bristles have worn unevenly. Running it like this scores the duct walls and can knock loose debris past the collection point.
- The sealing collar won’t stay seated against the duct opening. The internal gasket hardens with age and repeated heat cycles. Once it loses its grip, you lose negative pressure and dust blows back into the room instead of into the collection bag.
- Suction drops noticeably even with clean filters. A cracked sealing head or a gap at the collar lets air in where it shouldn’t. The machine works harder and pulls less debris out of the duct run.
- You feel vibration in the handle or hear a grinding sound from the head. Bearings inside the head assembly are the usual culprit. They’re small, sealed units that don’t love Dallas attic heat, and once they start to go they take the shaft with them.
- The brush spins freely by hand when the machine is off. That’s a stripped collar or a sheared internal pin. It means the drive isn’t engaging the head anymore, and the machine is just spinning itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Rotobrush sealing and repair work runs in Dallas, parts and labor included:
- Sealing collar or gasket replacement: $120 to $210
- Rotary brush head replacement (OEM or quality aftermarket): $180 to $340
- Shaft and bearing rebuild: $260 to $450
- Full head assembly replacement: $380 to $620
The range comes down to your machine’s series, whether we use OEM or a matched aftermarket part, and how much of the old assembly comes apart without fighting us. Every quote is written down before we touch the machine. You will know the exact price, the part we’re installing, and the labor time before any work starts. That’s the whole point of the way we do business. And every repair we make is covered under the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the part or our workmanship fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. If we have to come back, the second visit is free too. That’s in writing, not a handshake.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a real safety item here, so let’s be direct: a Rotobrush head spins under load, and a failed shaft or collar can throw a brush hard enough to hurt you or tear up a duct run. Do not try to run a machine with a wobbling head to “get through one more job.” What you can safely check yourself: the model plate, the shaft diameter, the condition of the visible gasket, and whether the brush bristles are worn flat on one side. That diagnostic gets us to the right part faster. What you shouldn’t do is open the head assembly or force a mismatched collar. Threaded aluminum strips before steel gives, and then you’re replacing the shaft instead of the seal. If the head chatters, the best move is to shut the machine off and call (361) 309-6223. We’ll quote the repair over the phone and tell you whether it’s a truck-stock part or a same-week order.
FAQs
With regular residential use, expect two to four years out of a sealing head and closer to two years out of the internal gasket. Dallas heat shortens that. Attics in this city run 130 degrees plus in August, and heat cycling is what hardens the rubber and cooks the bearing grease. If you store the machine in the garage, it will last longer than if it rides in a hot van or sits in an attic.
Sometimes. If the collar itself is intact and only the gasket has hardened or cracked, a gasket kit fixes it for $120 to $210. If the aluminum collar is bent or the threads are gouged, repairing it isn’t worth the labor. The collar seats under pressure, and a damaged one won’t hold vacuum reliably. We’ll tell you which side of that line yours falls on before you spend anything.
A straightforward brush head or collar swap takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half on most machines. A shaft and bearing rebuild runs longer, closer to two or three hours, because the old assembly has to come apart carefully and the shaft needs to be checked for runout before anything goes back together. We show up with the part we said we’d bring, do the work, and don’t leave until the machine runs clean.
We stock common rotobrush-compatible wear parts on the truck, including sealing collars, gaskets, and brush heads for the most common shaft sizes. Oddball series or older machines may need a same-week order. Either way, you’ll know the timeline before we schedule, and the price won’t change once it’s written down. Call (361) 309-6223 and we’ll tell you in two minutes what we have, what we need to order, and what it costs.
